Do you need REAL reverse power-flow protection?

2/23/2016

The ES-32 Reverse Power Relay is microprocessor based and measures real power (watts).

A reverse power relay is typically used in applications where protection from excessive power flow in an undesired direction is required. Real power measurement can prevent damage due to reverse power flow, such as generator motoring caused by loss of prime mover torque.

Real power (watts) measurement is superior to other 32 devices that sense only directional current. Real power measurement better replicates actual system power flow by accounting for voltage variances and gaining increased generator protection sensitivity. The ES-32 relay operates on the fundamental component of sensed voltage and current, thus filtering out all harmonics.
