Basler makes single-function relays in the S case and numeric relays in the H case. There are other case options depending on your application.

S Case Numeric Relays

Basler offers 3 phase numeric feeder and generator relays in the same case as our single function relays. These relays use the same draw-out construction, test paddles, and cover design as our traditional relays. They fit in existing panel cutouts, plus testing procedures and equipment are very similar to single function devices.

Basler H Case Numeric Relays

The H case offers some unique benefits. The BE1-951 and BE1-GPS100 are the smallest utility grade voltage/current relays available.

The H case relays are only 3.5" high, less than 9" wide, and less than 8" deep behind the panel. This small package frequently allows these relays to be “squeezed in” to an existing panel space.

F Case BE1-851

This unique package puts a BE1-851 3-phase numeric overcurrent relay into a single FT11 (Westinghouse/ABB) cutout – the same cutout used by the ubiquitous CO relays. Even the mounting holes are the same! This makes it easy to upgrade protection and add oscillography and sequence-of-events recording to existing installations. Just remove one CO relay, pop the 851 in the panel, bring power to the 851, jumper the currents from the other relays to the 851 and the job is done.

Free BESTCOMS software makes the setup easy. The remaining relays for the other phases can be left in place as backup protection or removed from their cases to eliminate them from the maintenance cycle.

Vertical MX Case BE1-CDS220/240

The BE1-CDS220 and BE1-CDS240 are versatile numeric differential relays that can be used for Transformer, Bus, or Generator differential protection. It fits into the cutouts of many electromechanical differential relays, making it easy to upgrade the protection and add fault recording and communications at the same time. The escutcheon plate for the relay includes 3 sets of mounting holes to align with GE, Westinghouse/ABB, and Basler cases.

For more information, see Application Note PC-CASES for a discussion of Basler relay functionality, case size and dimension to determine suitable for replacement of older electromechanical relays.

BESTlogic Programmable Logic

In a BESTlogic multifunction relay, each of the protection and control functions is implemented as an independent function block that is equivalent to its single function, discrete device counterpart.

Programming BESTlogic is equivalent to choosing the devices required by your protection and control scheme and drawing schematic diagrams to connect the inputs and outputs to obtain the desired operational logic.

BESTlogic based relays can store, as user settings, one user programmable, custom logic scheme. To save setup time, each relay contains several preprogrammed logic schemes. Any of the preprogrammed schemes can be selected and used directly without having to make any BESTlogic settings.

Software

To ease set up, BESTCOMS software is provided free of charge. This point and click tool makes the process of creating settings files easy and intuitive and reduces the learning curve.

See Application Note PC_RTF Compare for instructions on an easy way to quickly and accurately compare two numeric relay settings files using BESTCOMS and Microsoft® Word.

Free BESTWAVE COMTRADE viewer software is also available. It allows you to open up to four oscillography files simultaneously to aid in event analysis.

Free BESTprint also can be ordered. BESTPrint allows users to preview and print graphical representations of BESTCOMS settings files. It includes profiles for BE1-CDS240 (w/ DNP), BE1-CDS220, BE1-1051, BE1-700C, BE1-951, BE1-IPS100, and BE1-GPS100.
