Introducing the SGC-250 Synchronous Generator Controller

Basler Electric is pleased to introduce the SGC-250 Synchronous Generator Controller. It is the next generation prepackaged generator control system utilizing the DECS-250 Digital Excitation Control System to provide total control and exceptional system response with precise voltage, var, and power factor regulation. The SGC-250’s chassis mounted construction provides a compact preconfigured, prewired, and pretested solution for easy installation into a new cubicle or existing enclosure, saving installation and commissioning time.
The SGC-250 has a simplified style chart to select different features and options, including a dual DECS-250 configuration in which both controllers communicate together to maintain the generator output voltage via the field of the exciter. The redundant controllers offer additional reliability by having one controller serve as the primary and the other independent controller serve as a backup to prevent an inadvertent shutdown.
The style selection allows for the inclusion of an optional integrated BE1-11g Generator Protection System offering generator current differential protection, monitoring, and metering with multiple protection schemes to assist with generator protection. Combined with the DECS-250, this option allows the SGC-250 to consolidate control and protection in one easy-to-use and space saving solution.
Additionally, the DECS-250 offers advanced capabilities for Auto Tuning and an optional integrated Power System Stabilizer (PSS) to meet stringent grid code compliance requirements, while the BE1-11g offers an optional Resistive Thermal Device (RTD) module to provide multiple inputs and outputs for thermal protection. Together, the DECS-250 and BE1-11g provide a combined approach for automatic synchronization and sync check provisions.
