Control Systems Engineer - Highland, IL

Description

Develop and maintain control system algorithms, models and simulations with assistance from senior level engineering staff, as needed.

Reports to: Manager of Research and Development Engineering

Essential Duties

  • Develop and maintain computer and mathematical models for control systems developed by company.
  • Assist customers and other engineers in performing simulations and stability studies related to control systems used on electric power systems.
  • Develop detailed engineering specifications and proposals, for control and protection system algorithms.
  • Design analog and digital control systems, including writing code for embedded applications.
  • Develop control system models, algorithms, and/or proposals as required to support the project, estimating, and/or quoting phases of company systems and products.
  • Provide training on control system models and their use in electric power system applications.
  • Perform validation of control system and algorithm implementations in product designs using both software environment and hardware-in-the-loop simulation methods.
  • Travel as required to support customer validation, training or other control system design issues.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Computer Engineering with an emphasis and/or extended study in closed-loop control systems design and analysis.
  • Experience in the areas of power systems or power generation analysis and simulation preferred.
  • Proficient in C/C+ programming language.
  • Proficient in the use of MATLAB® and Simulink® software tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
