Electrical Engineer - Highland, IL

Description

With assistance from senior-level engineering staff, design electrical/electronic products as assigned.

Reports to: Electrical Engineering Systems Design Manager

Essential Duties

  • Assist in establishing design criteria to meet customer requirements.
  • Design products per design specification, sales design data, or individual customer specification.
  • Coordinate electrical design efforts with firmware/software engineer so the system will integrate properly.
  • Supervise technicians assigned to a particular job or project.
  • Evaluate design concepts through theoretical studies, breadboarding, and prototypes, having design reviews as necessary.
  • Record design and test data.
  • Release to Mechanical Engineering section when design has been confirmed with schematics and electrical bills of material.
  • Use standard parts and circuits when possible and calculate stress information on all components used in designs.
  • Write theory-of-operation documents.
  • Verify correctness of schematic diagrams, printed circuit board layouts, and bills of materials.
  • Assist Technical Writer in writing of product manuals and sales bulletins for products designed.
  • Estimate material and engineering effort required on jobs being quoted as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Maintain current engineering estimate sheets and work schedules.
  • Generate quotes in response to sales/marketing inputs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S.E.E. degree or equivalent.
  • One to three years of design experience preferred.
  • Travel as required for training, support of project tasks, product issues, and other design- or job-related needs.
  • Proficient computer skills.
