Basler Suzhou successfully retrofitted a protection relay with a Basler BE1-11g Generator Protection System at the power plant of a major Chinese steel producer. This relay provides protection for a 30 MW turbine generator that powers their blast furnace. Because of the critical role of this generator, a second BE1-11g was also installed to provide backup protection.
Limited space in the customer’s switchgear enclosure made for a challenging installation. Basler Suzhou overcame this challenge by designing a custom chassis to mount both BE1-11g relays. This custom solution enabled installation of the BE1-11g relays without affecting the enclosure layout or functionality of the other devices in the enclosure. It also provides access to the connections at the back of the relays for future testing and maintenance.
